The Royal College of Psychiatrists Clarifies its Position on The Health and Social Care Bill

The Royal College of Psychiatrists joins other health professional bodies in expressing grave concerns about the Health and Social Care Bill.
The statement, which was released on 1 February  2012, has received less attention but is noteworthy in that it reflect the views of a group looking after some of the most vulnerable in society.
“The College believes the Bill is fundamentally flawed and will not improve the health and care of people with mental illness.”  For a news report on their statement click here.
The college found that 85% of its membership believe the Bill will have a negative impact on the health and social care system, and 80% consider the Bill to be fundamentally flawed.
